Snipes' Lawyers File New Appeal

17 December 2010 5:26 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Jailed Wesley Snipes' lawyer has filed a new appeal against the actor's three-year prison term for tax evasion, requesting officials free the star so he can fight his case in the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Blade star spent two years fighting his 2008 conviction for failing to file tax returns and recently lost an appeal and a request for a retrial.

He surrendered to authorities on 9 December and is currently incarcerated in a minimum security prison in Pennsylvania.

But his attorneys are refusing to give up the fight to free the embattled star and they filed new documents in a Florida court on Friday asking the U.S. Court of Appeals to overturn a previous ruling which denied him bail last week (ends10Dec10).

Snipes' legal team wants the judges at the Supreme Court to decide whether the actor should be granted a new trial following fresh revelations about alleged jury misconduct during his 2008 case, according to TMZ.com.

The latest allegations stem from claims made by an unnamed member of the 2008 jury, who emailed Snipes' lawyers earlier this year. The juror claimed three people on the panel had decided on their verdict before the trial had begun.

Thurman Stalker Remanded In Custody In New York

17 December 2010 5:26 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

A man convicted of stalking Uma Thurman in 2008 has been held without bail ahead of his court date in New York next week, when he will face two charges for criminal contempt.

Jack Jordan broke the terms of his restraining order in October when he attempted to contact the actress by making a series of calls to the Kill Bill star's cell and New York office phone, prompting Thurman to lodge an official complaint with police.

He was arrested after a raid on his mother's home in Maryland in November and was placed under doctors' supervision.

Jordan was charged with two counts of criminal contempt for allegedly violating the order of protection, and was transferred to New York on Thursday.

He was also hit with more stalking charges.

Jordan appeared before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro later on Thursday and entered a not guilty plea.

He was ordered to remain in custody at the tough Rikers Island prison until his next hearing on Wednesday.

A request for protective custody from Jordan's legal team was rejected by Judge Carro.

In 2008, Jordan was found guilty of fourth-degree stalking and one count of second-degree aggravated harassment after sending the blonde beauty creepy letters and threatening to kill himself outside her New York home in 2005.

He was ordered to stay away from Thurman for five years.

Adams' Sleepless Nights Helped Addict Portrayal

17 December 2010 5:26 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Amy Adams found it easy to play a drug addict in new movie On The Road as she was already "strung out" on set from nursing her newborn baby through the night.

The actress gave birth to little Aviana in May and began filming the drama with Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst just three months later.

Adams was left "exhausted" from juggling motherhood with work, but she's convinced fatigue improved her performance.

She tells Chelsea Handler, "I couldn't (do) method (acting) because I have a baby! When you have a baby and you haven't slept... I was doing nights by myself so I kind of felt like a drug addict anyway.

"I was all strung out - I just went with it. I was exhausted and nursing. I was just a mess."
